Eating healthy while traveling is not always easy, especially if your travels involve flying. You can save time, money, and calories by planning ahead and packing healthy snacks for your travels. Here are a few of my favorite portable snacks to bring to the airport and on the plane.
It’s nutritious, energizing, and filling. To avoid having to buy fast food at the airport I bring a small Ziplock bag of rolled oats or a single serving size package. On the plane or at the airport just ask for a cup of hot water; stir in the oats, and voila, a hearty meal. Try adding sliced fresh fruit, dried fruit, nuts, cinnamon, or honey to flavor. * If you didn’t bring your oatmeal head to a Starbucks for a cup of oatmeal, but skip the brown sugar.
In flight is the perfect time to take advantage of the convenience of protein powders. Pack a few servings and a shaker cup and simply add water.
Nuts are full of healthy fats, fiber, and protein. Nuts (preferably raw) are a portable snack that can cease the stomach growling while you’re waiting in long lines at the airport or starving on a flight.
Apples, bananas, oranges are full of antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and fiber to keep you energized. They are awesomely portable and easy to toss in your carry-on. One of my favorite snacks is an apple and raw almonds or almond butter.
These simple muffins are my go-to on-the-go snack! Less than 300 calories, over 20 grams of protein, under 30 grams complex carbs, and so versatile and delicious! RECIPE HERE
